Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
As part of this study have been refined crystal structures of three synthetic and one natural tourmaline with a nickel content of 3.5 to 19 wt. % NiO. The investigated tourmalines belong to different mineral species. Nickel cations orderly occupy the Y octahedron when the content is less than 5.33 wt. % (0.81 atoms per formula), with higher contents they are included in both octahedral positions, while their content in the Z octahedron reaches 1.20 atoms per formula. |
