Phase equilibria are the basis of metasomatic crystallogenesis. The three types of ternary systems determine product patterns. More complex systems can be presented as combinations of these types. The relation of reactant solubility determines the volume effect of crystal replacement and its change in the reaction course. Concentration diagrams permit its graphical measurement. Phase trajectory can divide from the theoretical one due to a deviation of local compositions at the phase boundary from the total composition of the system. Relation between product structure and system types is not quite definite due to some exceptions. Volume relations become indefinite at a temperature change when the replacement is combined with independent growth or dissolution. However metasomatic component acts at any conditions and controls mixed crystal composition.
