I called that unprecedented interest in nanoscale objects, which we witnessed in recent years, a new stage of the invasion into “the world of neglected dimensions\". The first stage of such an invasion took place at the beginning of the 20th century and was associated with W. Ostwald, who actually referred to the region of substance particles, which sizes were between the sizes of individual atoms and molecules, on the one hand, and macroscopic bodies – on the other hand, as “the world of neglected dimensions\". Although nanoobjects have been the subject of science for almost the whole their history, what we observe now really goes beyond the gradual normal development of science. The scientific community recognized the uniqueness of the phenomena and processes in the nanoworld, the specific properties of nanoobjects, and greatly intensified researches in this interdisciplinary area.
