Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
The report discusses optical principles of monocrystal grains cathodoluminescence (CL). The authors prove dependence between CL brightness and light-scattering ability of different zones of monocrystals. Optical modeling helped to improve understanding of CL zoning and explain low correlation between CL brightness and concentration of contaminating luminophors. Theoretical models were tested on real crystals. Within the course of the study the authors compared the data of color CL, electron microprobe (concentration of impurities) and optical coherence interferometry (3D reconstruction of monocrystal optical zones).
