Abstract - Summary
(short description):
The ecological conditions of the Northern Caucasus region are determined by two groups of pollution sources: anthropogenic and natural. In this area, as in the majority of regions of Russia, anthropogenic sources of pollution are most dangerous. Natural sources are useful mineral deposits and geochemical anomalies, which considerably affect the environment and are in relatively stable equilibrium with it.
Ecological conditions of this region are for the major part determined by the system of nature management and conditions and principles of economic management. The nature of delineated anomalous geochemical sites was established with the use of landscape maps and maps of functional zoning.
