Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
Tourmaline from Cu-porphyry and epithermal deposits of the Southern Urals, Romania, and Chukotka was studied. Tourmaline from propylitic and phyllics zones of Cu-porphyries is distinguished by the Al → Fe3+ and YAl + WO2- → YFe2+ + WOH- isomorphic substitutions, respectively, whereas tourmaline from superimposed epithermal alteration is characterized by a combination of Fe2+ → Mg and X + YAl → XNa + YMg. Thus tourmaline chemistry indicates porphyry to epithermal transition.
