Crystallization of malic acid HOOC-CH2-HCOH-COOH (L- and D-enantiomers and DL-racemate) was carried out in water, ethanol, and acetone solutions. Precipitates form needle and mosaic crystals, different intergrowths, twins, spherules, and globules; small racemate monocrystals (1–2 mm) were obtained. Crystal imperfection and aggregate specificity of the enantiomers and racemate are different|; they depend also on the solvent.
