Anthroxolite, a solid hydrocarbon, metalloid, most commonly known by shungite, is present in veins, veinlets and vugs in the palaeoproterozoic metasapropelite and gabbrodolerite of the Maksovo deposit. Some data on morphology, microscalestructure and optical properties of the anthroxolites are reported.
It is supposed that their origin and features are due to contact metamorphism and hydrothermal circulation caused by gabbrodolerite intrusions. |
