Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
Over 300 coarse-grained Gt-Sp peridotite xenoliths from the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe were studied. Lithospheric mantle peridotites beneath the Udachnaya pipe are more depleted if compare with those beneath the South Africa and Southern part of Yakutian kimberlite province. Gt-Sp peridotites are developed in interval from near 60 km, where garnetization of the most Al-enriched peridotites begin, up to 170 km, where garnetization of the most depleted peridotites with maximal values of Cr/(Cr+Al) ratio (over 70%) have completed; maximal amount of Gt-Sp peridotites is corresponded with depths of 90-100 km. Garnet peridotites are presented in the lithospheric mantle from depth of near 65 km (peridotites with minimal values of Cr/(Cr+Al) ratio) and deeper, and beginning from depth of 170 km they are the only lithospheric peridotites up to depth of 190-200 km where a zone of lithosphere-asthenosphere interaction is developed. Origin of studied peridotites is complex and cannot be explained by simple models of subduction of oceanic peridotites or partial melting processes of primitive mantle. |
