Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
This presentation is devoted to formation of oxalate renal stones. Two main minerals composing oxalate urolithes are whewellite forming spherulites and whedellite forming dendritic aggregates of crystals. The key role in formation of urolithes is believed to belong to inhibition action of organic components of urea. The organic admixture is incorporated in urolithes in different concentration forming fine oscillatory zoning. Since this zoning is typical for oxalate renal stones, its study seems to give new information on the calcium oxalates crystallization conditions and dynamics. Mathematical (fractal) analysis displayed chaotic (neither random nor deterministic) character of the zoning patterns. According to the correlation dimension method the complexity of the system is different for different parts of the zoning profile: parts with small amount of organic impurities reveal dimension of the strange attractor D=2.3, whereas the parts with higher impurity contents (more slow growth rates) display higher D=3.3. This argues for at least two crystallization regimes and confirms a high complexity of a system. |
