Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
The kinematical model of growth of the regeneration surfaces on crystals is suggested. It is based on the assumption that different subindividuals are formed by the different sets of micro-faces initially. The alteration of regeneration surface morphology is a result of two competitions: a) between neighboring subindividuals and b) within the set of microfaces for each subindi-vidual. One consequence of those competitions is the well-known nonlinear fall of the regenera-tion surface growth velocity to some constant value. The last fact isn’t the result of changing of crystal growth mechanism, but is explained by the sequential vanishing fast-growing faces from the set of subindividual’s microfaces. The quantitative fit of the model and the real growth of regeneration surfaces is shown on the beryl and alum crystals as example. |
