Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
Here we document the first discovery, to our knowledge, of the perovskite structured polymorph of CaSiO3 in nature, found included within a diamond from the Cullinan kimberlite, South Africa. This finding firmly establishes this phase as a component of Earth’s mantle. Experimental phase equilibria studies of CaSiO3 indicate a minimum depth of origin of the host diamond at ~ 550 km, but more likely below 660 km where its stability field expands in peridotite.
