Journal Info

Scientific announcements on mineralogy, petrology, deposits study, crystallography and geochemistry, and also articles on science history, critical and discussional announcements are published in the journal. In the part «Chronicles» information about the results of work of congresses, conferences and symposiums in the field of these sciences is given, and in the part «Bibliography» new monographs, reference books and text-books on mineralogy and adjacent disciplines are discussed.

In the publications questions on genesis, properties and constitution of minerals, crystallomorphology, peculiarities of chemism, conditions of formation and distribution of minerals, characteristic mineral associations in ores and rocks, and also problems of thermodynamic modelling of mineral formation processes are widely elucidated. The journal inserts announcements about new minerals, articles on the methods of the mineralogical investigations.

The Journal was founded in 1830. Former title - «Zapiski VMO», also known as:
   «Zapiski Vserossijskogo Mineralogicheskogo Obshchestva»
   «Zapiski Vsesoyuznogo Mineralogicheskogo Obshchestva»

In the present time the second series of the journal is published (6 times a year). The journal «Proceedings of the Russian Mineralogical Society» publishes articles of russian scientists and also of their foreign colleagues. The language of publications is russian or english, every russian article has abstracts in english. The articles are systematically reviewed in russian and international press («International Geological Review», «Mineralogical Abstracts», Journal of Abstracts «Geology» (in Russian)).
