The mission of I.S.E.S is to promote knowledge about solid Earth and Earth's materials, to elucidate mineral reactions and mineral transformations affecting dynamics and evolution of the lithosphere. School has educational and scientific orientations, which are based on international cooperation between scientists and students from the world. The School was first organized and sponsored in 2005 by Department of Petrology, Moscow State University (MSU), Institute of Experimental Mineralogy (Russian Academy of Sciences), and Department of Physical and Marine Geology, Odessa National University (ONU), Ukraine. Initial aim of this Project was to increase knowledge of under graduate, post-graduate, and PhD students mainly from the former USSR countries (CIS) in the following disciplines of Earth's Sciences: petrology, mineralogy, geochronology and geochemistry, geodynamics, economic geology, engineering and marine geology, environmental science (geoecology). However, by nowadays one of the major I.S.E.S. tasks was and still is a value the internationalization of Science and Educational system at universities of CIS and their tied incorporation into the International Geosciences Community.
