Dear colleagues!
The Department of Mineralogy,
Crystallography and Petrology and the Faculty for Geological Prospecting of the
St. Petersburg Mining Institute (Technical University) cordially invite you to
attend the international scientific conference «Fedorov
Session-2006» to be held in St.
Petersburg from May 29th to 30th, 2006.
The aim of the Fedorov Session-2006 is to
discuss recent progress and future trends in crystallography, mineralogy and
petrography within the frame of directions established in the works of
Prof. Evgraf Fedorov (1853-1919). The scientific
program includes three special (S) and two traditional
(T) sessions.
Scientific Sessions:
S1:
Morphology of crystals and mineral aggregates
S2: Crystal genesis in
natural and synthetic environments
S3: Interrelations between mineral
structure and the mineral-forming environment and spectroscopy of
minerals
T1: Open session «Mineralogy in the full space of this word»
T2: History of mineralogy,
crystallography and petrology
The session T2 is
dedicated to the 60 years from the day of tragic death of Prof. Anatoly
Boldyrev (1883-1946), who was the prominent mineralogist
and crystallographer, follower of Prof. E. Fedorov, the founder of the Fedorov
Institute and the organizer of the first Fedorov Sessions (1920) and head of the
Departments of Mineralogy and Crystallography of the St. Petersburg (Leningrad)
Mining Institute.
Official languages: Russian and English. No simultaneous translation will
be provided.
